Christmas Sugar Cookies
No, this is not fashion and faith related, but, who doesn't want a really good Christmas Cookie Recipe? I hope you enjoy!
xo, Heather!
SUGAR COOKIE INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups of flour
- 1 cup margarine
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (confection sugar)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. cream of tarter
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
BUTTER FROSTING INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup of unsold butter room temp.
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbs milk (sometimes I sub with peppermint coffee mate)
- 2 cups of powdered sugar (confection sugar)
- a few drops of Food Coloring
COOKIE BAKING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Turn on your oven to 350 degrees.
2. Spray your cookie sheets and set them aside
3. Toss every last ingredient into a mixer or handheld mixer and mix on med until the powdered sugar and flour aren't sloshing around your countertop. Then go ahead and turn it up to high for about a minute or until everything is fully mixed. Your dough should be really firm.
4. Roll out your dough with a rolling pin. These are NOT thin cookies. You want to roll the dough out and have them be about 1/4 inch thick. Then just cut out your cookie shapes with your Christmas cookie cutters.
5. Next, place them onto your sprayed cookie sheet about 3 in a row.
Place in the oven and bake for 8 minutes or until they feel slightly firm at the top.
6. HERE'S THE SECRET: If they are brown on the bottom at all, they have cooked too long. There should also be no browning on the top.
7. Let the sugar cookies rest for about 5-10 minutes until you frost them with your buttercream frosting.
8. Once they are cooled down, add the buttercream frosting, add the sprinkles, add the love. Let them sit for about 10 minutes or until the frosting is firm before stacking them.
